MAKING A BOOK about as sensitive a subject as AIDS is tricky, so we started out with these guiding principles, to ensure everyone gets the most out of Aunt Imelda.

Aunt Imelda is about WHAT children need to know to demystify AIDS now, so that they can practice compassion for others and seek adult guidance for themselves later on.
Fun:
Good information doesn't have to come in the pedagogical pamphlets we remember from our doctors’ offices as children. We feel that if Carmen Sandiego can make geography fun, Aunt Imelda can help children have a good time while learning these important facts.
